My Perfect Stranger Episode 14 Recap
After finding another note from the killer in Soon-ae’s hospital room, she is taken back to her home by the police. However, they are still not taking it seriously and want to close the case as soon as possible. Dong-sik and Hae-jun try to figure out how to bring the culprit to them but the police’s reluctance and wanting to hush everything is not helping anyone.
Thus, Hae-jun suggests Soon-ae’s family take the help of the news journalist to present their case, which will help other people in getting aware of what’s happening and put pressure on the police as well. The parents are hesitant about going on-air as that could invite even more trouble but Soon-ae shows courage and says that she will not hide as she hasn’t done anything wrong. Hae-jun also ensures them that the journalists will blur her face and change her voice to not reveal her complete identity.
Dong-sik also gives the matchbox from the hospital room to Hae-jun, so that they can show some proof on the news. Meanwhile, Hae-jun helps him by proving Min-soo’s innocence, so that the police are forced to investigate properly and not blame everything on him to close the case. They get to know that Min-soo was escorted by his sister Mi-suk in a taxi to a hospital, to get his hand treated. Dong-sik contacts all the taxi drivers in the village & gets his testimony that proved Min-soo was actually in a hospital at the time of the murder.

It immensely helps Min-soo in getting released from jail but Mi-suk fears for her own life since her brother will be back at home. Yoon-young tries to help her when she sees her walking back in an anxious state, but Mi-suk’s ignorance of other people’s pain to frame her brother has led to another murder & the culprit at large. This stops Yoon-young from helping her any further.
Hae-jun consistently tries to bring the latest development to the journalist & suggests they make it a long segment so that people can get to know all the details & the gravity of the situation. He even volunteers to give an interview saying that he chased the culprit on the night of Bum-ryong’s murder & even saw his face. By doing so, he makes himself a direct target of the killer, who would want to silence him.
On the other hand, Hae-jun also witnesses his mother selling all her stuff but keeping a box with her. It contained clothes and shoes for a baby, implying that she is already pregnant with him. Before the news broadcast, while on his way back home, he comes across Cheong-ha who asks him to drop her at the bus station. Waiting for the bus to arrive, she shares that she is pregnant and the meaning behind the name Hae-jun, which she will be giving to the baby. Listening to her, he realises that his mother was actually excited to have him, but the question remains then why did she leave him?
Soon, she gets on the bus and leaves the village & Hae-jun walks back home, knowing that the culprit will show up at his house. Dong-sik was also keeping an eye from Soon-ae’s house. However, Cheong-ha turns up at his house, whom he had just bid off at the bus station. She came after watching the news and wants to take him somewhere safe. Hae-jun asks her, how she knows that he lied about seeing the culprit’s face and she shows him the red yarn cap out from her bag.
She further explains that it was in her baby box and she had bought it to make clothes for the baby, which will be born in winter. But the same yarn was used to tie up the victims, along with the matchboxes from her tea house. By indirectly implying that Yeon-woo is the real culprit, she reveals how excited she really was to have a child but after realising what her boyfriend is capable of, it scared her. Instead of excitement, she is afraid of giving birth to a child, whose father is a cold-hearted murderer.
Hae-jun is completely stunned to hear her confession and instantly goes inside to check if the car is still there. As expected, the car was missing and just then Yeon-woo is also seen walking up to his house. However, Dong-sik drops an object which alerts Yeon-woo and he starts running away. Dong-sik runs behind him and Hae-jun also chases after him under the bridge. He stands right in front of the coming car & Yeon-woo hits him, making Hae-jun fall down hard.
My Perfect Stranger Episode 14 Review
Yeon-woo seemed suspicious in the last two episodes but nobody would have expected him to be the actual killer. But that makes us question how Hae-jun was not able to recognise his own father’s handwriting. Did he use another hand to write or made someone else write it for him?
Also, it seems that he has figured out the time travel car as well, does that mean he was the one who left the car under the bridge & Hae-jun ends up finding it? There are so many questions but we have to wait for another week to get substantial answers.
