See You in My 19th Life Episode 2 shows how Ji-eum (Shin Hye-sun) persistently chases Seo-ha (Ahn Bo-hyun) and comes across a painful past that she hadn’t considered before.
The episode picks up during Ban Ji-eum’s interview where she asks Seo-ha if he wants to date her. The reason behind it was his hesitation to hire her, so she wanted to prove her worth by dating as a trial. He is taken aback by her and wonders if they have actually met before.
It is also revealed that since the accident, he is scared of sitting at the back of the car. But now that he is the Director, sitting in the front might make people question the relationship between him & Do-yoon, since he is his secretary now and not just a friend.
Meanwhile, Ju-won’s little sister Cho-won has been meaning to meet him after his return, but he seems hesitant & even avoids her calls. Another day, Ji-eum (Shin Hye-sun) happens to be at the same place as Seo-ha (Ahn Bo-hyun) when he gets a panic attack due to excessive noise around him. Without thinking twice, she holds his hand and starts running anywhere.
When they finally sit back to catch a breath, she asks if he is fine and tells him how she has felt the same many times. At that moment, she just starts running and instantly feels better as her body gets busy catching the air than falling back due to anxiousness. She even shares an anecdote from her 10th life when all her loved ones died in the Japanese invasion of Korea.
While her advice is helpful, the story from old times makes Seo-ha think that she is making that up, just like the way she hinted that they might have met before. Ji-eum then gives him another hint about their previous interaction and says – let’s get married. If anything, she has gotten all his attention & definitely made a strong impression on him. When she doesn’t get a call back about hiring, she turns up at the hotel & appeals for the position. She runs into Ji-seong there, who wanted to hire her for the Daehwan group. But gets a bit aggressive when she refuses him again. Just then Seo-ha and Do-yoon turn up & take her along. Coincidentally, Cho-won also comes to the hotel knowing Seo-ha would be there but he avoids her.

Ji-eum had come to give Seo-ha a document on what she thinks the hotel can improve on & a sketch of the lobby that pictured how it looked in the past when they were kids. Another day, they find some guests making nuisances in the lobby. It turns out to be Director Jang’s son, who has been handling the hotel since Seo-ha’s mother’s death. He misbehaves with him as well as with Ji-eum but gets manhandled by Seo-ha. His mother also comes to the scene & is embarrassed by Seo-ha for her son’s antics.
Seeing Ji-eum turning up every day at the hotel, Do-yoon gets suspicious of her & directly asks if he has an ulterior motive. She doesn’t hesitate from answering him back honestly and says that she has a motive but it won’t harm Seo-ha at all. Their conversation makes Seo-ha curious and thinking if they have actually met before. While swimming, he suddenly remembers how 9-year-old Ji-eum once helped him, the same way she did the other day.
When she was following around High schooler Seo-ha, he was caught breaking a wall with a hammer. Afraid that they might report him, Ji-eum takes his hand & tells him to run. That time as well, little Ji-eum had asked Seo-ha to marry her. While he thought she was a strange kid but she was saying the same thing that Seo-ha had said to Ju-won. This memory makes him trust Ji-eum a bit and seeing her sincerity, he asks for her help the next day. She drives him to an isolated place not knowing where they were going, until they reach their destination. It was the same day as Ju-won’s death & Seo-ha came to her grave with flowers.
This makes Ji-eum emotional and she contemplates how she always thought about the pain she felt when losing others. But others must also feel the same when they lose her. On the other hand, Do-yoon is shown reporting to Seo-ha’s dad and even gets paid for the work he does. However, he refuses to take the money and it is revealed that Do-yoon might have been put up by the Chairman to keep an eye on his son.
See You in My 19th Life Episode 2 Review
It looks like Ji-eum is also suspicious about the car accident and has been working in the Motors industry because of it. However, Cho-won was originally shown as an entertainment company’s head instead of a landscaper. The story might develop later in that direction, if not, it will be interesting to see how the creators integrate her with the other characters. For the first two episodes, the crucial backstory has been mainly covered but some characters like Ji-seong or the relationship between Do-yoon & Cho-won wasn’t highlighted as much as in the Webtoon.
See You in My 19th Life (이번 생도 잘 부탁해) is available for streaming on Netflix in selective regions and is broadcasted on tvN at 09:10 PM KST, every Saturday & Sunday.
