Delightfully Deceitful Episode 8 brings Moo-young (Kim Dong-wook) the truth about his father’s bankruptcy and the change in stealing operation creates a ruckus. The episode has a runtime of about 60 minutes.
When Yo-han (Yoon Park) visits Moo-young’s office, he is asked to explain the story behind his friend An Yoon-sik’s death and why he is after Ro-um (Chun Woo-hee). Moo-young feels there’s a connection between the two. Yo-han briefly tells him how his friend came from a poor & abusive family, so he ran away and by the age of 20, he became a delinquent.
He would work odd jobs and apparently worked for the Jeokmok kids in the insurance scam. Where people would deliberately cause accidents, get injured etc & then ask for money from others. Until he died because of it.
That’s why he doesn’t like people like Ro-um who can discard anyone, as they please. He believes that the unfortunate should be given opportunities, instead of being exploited. On that note, Moo-young reveals to him that it was his mother who worked as a psychological advisor at the foundation & had a hand in picking the Jeokmok kids, who were forcefully trained to become high-skilled criminals.
Yo-han (Yoon Park) couldn’t believe it & confronts his mother about it. However, she doesn’t deny anything, nor show any empathy because according to her, those underprivileged kids were meant to create a nuisance anyway.
Her theory is somehow proved during the stealing operation at the Hyemyung Hotel. The plan was going out of control from the start when Jang Kyung-ja turns her phone off during a contract meeting & takes one more person with her, to the vault. To get access to the vault, they need to hack her phone where an OTP will come. Thus, Moo-young had to meet up with Jyung-ja again at the hotel & hack her phone by sending a spam link & getting her to open it. Despite the improvisation, the plan seems to go as they wanted.

Ringo cuts off the phone connections to the front desk & then turns off the elevator operation, so they can’t leave. With only 30 minutes at hand, Na Su-ho goes through the air vent to reach the vault, when Kyung-ja wasn’t able to access her vault & goes back on the elevator to reach the hotel lobby. As planned, she gets stuck & Su-ho tries to open the vault at that time. What they didn’t expect was for Jay to show up where Ringo was & he locks him up in a locker after thrashing him.
Meanwhile, Su-ho also changes his plan of just stealing the red diary & takes the gold bars as well. He snaps back at Ro-um saying he is not her slave & will do what he feels like. If she wants the diary, then she can come to get it herself. While Da-jung delegates other team members to get Ringo & drive away from there, Ro-um goes inside the vault. They get into an argument & in rage, Ro-um takes out the same revolver that was used to kill her parents and shoots in the air. Su-ho throws the diary to her but Kyung-ja and her guards catch them before she could pick it up.
She was about to call the police when Ro-um starts laughing maniacally & says that if she reports, then the President will get curious about the thing she tried to steal, putting Kyung-ja in a pickle. Thus, she takes her back to the place where her parents were murdered & burns the red diary in front of her. Now that the evidence is gone, she has nothing to hide even if the President comes looking for Kyung-ja. She leaves Ro-um in the woods with her hands tied.
On the other hand, Moo-young was sent home after his encounter with Kyung-ja. There he finds a pen drive instead of the revolver he had hidden. As soon as the drive gets connected, he gets to know how the Jeokmok kids also scammed his father & were the reason behind breaking his family apart. Unable to process it all, he visits Da-jung in the hospital, as Ringo needed to be hospitalised but she turns him away by saying that they are bad people. Despite being conflicted about what to do, he decides to help Ro-um regardless & rescues her from the woods.
Delightfully Deceitful Episode 8 Review
Now that Yo-han is aware of how his own family had a hand in creating everything, there could be a possibility for him to join hands or help them in getting to the president. The episode also shows how one can not just change everything when they have been subject to such a violent environment from early in life. The identity of the president remains a mystery but it could be someone quite close to them as well.
