However, he advises Yi-yeon not to take the unconscious man to the hospital, as the cure that he just gave him would not work and the person’s condition might worsen. But nobody heeds any attention to his words, and the search team is shocked to see several dismembered bodies at his place. Sitting in the police car, Woo-gyeom whispers under his breath that none of them are victims.

On the other hand in Bloody Flower, Human rights lawyer Park Han-joon (Sung Dong-il) is shown successfully defending a famous person from assault allegations in exchange for big amount of money. However, the money is for his daughter Min-seo’s treatment, who is suffering from Batten disease. Han-joon is desperately looking for a cure for his daughter and is distressed after losing contact with a man who promised him a cure.

Bloody Flower 3

While Yi-yeon interrogates Woo-gyeom about the dismembered bodies, he reveals that he killed 17 people to cure 17 people. He argues that since he cured 17 people, the other 17 people that he killed should be pardoned as clinical experiments.

Reporter Jo Woo-cheol (Shin Seung-hwan) then meets with Han-joon and proposes that they should work together since he has gone independent and their first case should be Woo-gyeom’s. He shares that Woo-gyeom specifically asked for Han-joon to defend him and he is the one that killed the man that promised to cure his daughter.

Hearing that the man he had been searching for was killed by Woo-gyeom, he decides to visit him once. Strangely, Woo-gyeom knew all about Han-joon and his family. He provokes Han-joon by saying that the man scammed him of 2 billion in the name of a cure. Instead, Han-joon should defend him in court and in return Woo-gyeom will pay him retainer fee of 1 billion won immediately, and another 1 billion won after the case. He would also cure Min-seo’s disease.

Bloody Flower 4

Unconvinced, Han-joon tries to leave but Woo-gyeom claims that he will be back after meeting the people he has cured so far. He also transfers 1 billion won as retainer. On the way back, reporter Jo tells Han-joon that Woo-gyeom actually contacted him a week prior to his arrest and seem to have an inkling about what was to come next.

Simultaneously in Bloody Flower, prosecutor Cha Yi-yeon’s investigation reveals that the dismembered bodies had traces of a new drug exclusively used in the US and the investigators questioned how Woo-gyeom made it on his own.

Additionally, the 17 people that he killed were ex-convicts. Out of them, only 7 bodies were recovered and Yi-yeon tries hard to make Woo-gyeom reveal the location of other 10 bodies. Yet even in polygraph tests, no deception is found, which means that Woo-gyeom really believes himself to be a savior and not a killer. During one interrogation, he is asked about his cure and he shares that one day he poured his concoction in a dying house plant and the next day, it was green again. He then poured the same in a fish tank and apparently dead goldfishes became alive again.

Bloody Flower 5

Not taking him seriously, Yi-yeon presses about the other 10 bodies and Woo-gyeom tries plea bargaining in exchange for the location information. Meanwhile, Han-joon visits the man found on the operating table and his wife reveals that they were introduced to Woo-gyeom by Sang-woo’s mother, who claimed that Sang-woo’s polio was cured by him. However, Han-joon and reporter Jo scramble to locate Sang-woo and other cured patients.

Bloody Flower Episode 2 Recap

Bloody Flower episode 2 continues Han-joon and reporter Jo’s search for Sang-woo’s family, and coincidentally they reach at their residence. They get surprised to see Sang-woo walking perfectly and approaches them. Having found the other 10 bodies at a mountain, Yi-yeon presents her findings in front of other prosecutors and pushes for death penalty against Woo-gyeom. After meeting Sang-woo in person, Han-joon visits Woo-gyeom and asks about his procedure and how he came up with the cure.

Woo-gyeom says that when he was a medical student, he went into a coma for three years after getting injured in a road accident. He woke up one day miraculously, and doctors observed mutations in his blood. While he believed he was all well, waves of pain would come back, which made his life miserable. Unable to find a medical solution, he experimented with various drugs on himself in pursuit of easing his pain. Eventually, his method seemed to work and didn’t feel any pain afterwords.

Bloody Flower 6

Later on in Bloody Flower, his trial officially starts, and prosecutor Cha Yi-yeon puts up the question that if Woo-gyeom’s main motive was simply clinical trials on human, why did he dismember their bodies. She puts up the argument that it was pleasure driven killings that started from his intent of revenge. Apparently, his first victim was the man who hit him in the road accident. To rebut the argument, defense attorney Park Han-joon claims that they can prove Woo-gyeom’s intention of curing people by bringing in 6 of his cured patients in the next trial as witnesses.

However, Han-joon only said this to buy time and rather questioned if Woo-gyeom was actually taking revenge on people. He questioned his motive behind serial killings. Woo-gyeom provokes him back by saying that it’s his job to prove his ability and show that his methods were absolutely correct in curing the incurable diseases. As he is further moved to a solitary cell, Han-joon struggles to convince the 6 patients to testify in court. They don’t want to be associated with the serial killer.

Among the cured patients, one person, Oh Min-gyu, intrigues Han-joon the most as he was suffering from the batten disease, just like Min-seo. To get more information about the people Woo-gyeom treated, he visits his place but finds a man tresspassing. Taken to the police station, the man turns out to be a wannabe social media influencer, looking gain clicks with his video exploring Woo-gyeom’s place. The next day the judge call on the prosecutor and the defense attorney and stresses that the next trial completely depends on the witnesses.

Bloody Flower 7

On the other hand, reporter Jo and Han-joon’s shared office space is raided due to an article on the case, as police officer claim that Jo’s article can be seen as an obstructuction in the investigation. Han-joon is able to stop them from taking their collected evidence somehow and later are joined by Min-kyung. She persuades Han-joon to let her convince the treated patients and help him. She is able to convince two witness but is notified of a threatening letter from Woo-gyeom, asking them to testify or he would publicize their personal details.

Han-joon scolds Woo-gyeom for his actions as it could backfire on them and the witness might testify against him. Subsequently, the day of the next trial, Han-joon calls on Sang-woo’s mother and tries to prove that Woo-gyeom actually helped people. However, Yi-yeon flips the narrative by asking how many places Sang-woo’s mother got second opinion from. She then calls on a medical practitioner who explains that often times when the previous diagnosis is shown to another doctor, they often go along with that diagnosis and do not investigate further. Thus, the chances of misdiagnosis could increase.

Bloody Flower 8

He puts up the argument that while polio is incurable, there’s another disease that presents the same symptoms but can be easily curable. Further claiming that it’s possible that Sang-woo has Segawa diseases and not polio. Han-joon objects that there no way to prove that he had Segawa now that Sang-woo is treated. As the trial continues after a break, their second witness whose leukemia was treated, do not pick up their calls. When Han-joon informs the court, Yi-yeon interjects and says that the witness is in the courtroom and could be called upon as prosecutor’s witness.

The judges discuss for a minute and accepts her proposition. As feared by Han-joon, the second witness testifies against him and claims that he isn’t cured yet. While the trial gets over, Han-joon approches the man outside the court and asks why did he lie. The man says that he isn’t lying and that when he went to the hospital for a checkup, he was informed that he had relapsed and his symptoms are back.

Bloody Flower 9

Yi-yeon happes to hear this and later visits the man. She asks more about his condition and when he says that his symptoms reappeared after visiting the hospital, she is reminded of Woo-gyeom’s words during arrest when he says that his treatment would become ineffective if some other medical treatment was given to the man he was treating at that moment.
