Single’s Inferno Season 5 has been one of the most engaging seasons compared to the past two or three years. While some things remained the same, like surface-level conversations, the contestants were comparatively much more active this time, and the production crew also seemed to incorporate audience feedback.
However, the last two episodes of Single’s Inferno season 5 seemed to breeze through the conversations between the cast members, games, and special meal dates. The part where all the cast members reveal their age and jobs during the campfire was especially skipped after Lee Seung-hun and Choi Mina Sue’s introduction.
Nevertheless, the final decisive moment was a bit unpredictable. Instead of making the contestants stand in the scorching sun, they were made to sit together, and the ladies were called to the inferno gate one by one. The men interested in them would walk up in front of them when asked by the master voice. Finally, the ladies would announce whom they would like to leave the inferno with. This time, they also had the choice to opt out.
Single’s Inferno Season 5: Who Chose Whom?
1) Kim Min-gee and Song Seung-il
Min-gee was the first one who was called to stand at the inferno gate. Soon after, Seung-il made his way in front of her. They exchanged their feelings with each other, and then Min-gee announced that she would like to leave the inferno with Seung-il. They walked out bantering about expressing their feelings better, and Seung-il lifted Min-gee on his back.

2) Park Hee-sun and Lim Su-been
Next, Hee-sun was asked to stand, and Su-been came forward to show her interest. Looking at Hee-sun’s seemingly gloomy expressions, the MCs guessed that she might not choose him. However, soon after Hee-sun announced Su-been as her final choice, and their previous conversation, clearing out the misunderstandings was shown. While it could be that they don’t express themselves as openly as others, they didn’t seem as into each other as a new couple might.

3) Choi Mina Sue and Lee Seung-hun
The way the initial episodes of Single’s Inferno Season 5 progressed, it was anticipated that Mina Sue might attract many suitors. But with a turn of events, it became a story of her character development, or perhaps a conscious decision by the production, cutting down everything to snippets in the final episodes.
When Choi Mina Sue stood in front of the inferno gate, Lee Seung-hun made his way to her and said that he would always come to her, whether in Korea or the US. Despite many netizens’ assumptions/claims that she would not choose anyone, Mina Sue chose Lee Seung-hun to walk out of the inferno with.

4) Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin
Throughout the show, Lee Joo-young and Kim Jae-jin slowly built a connection in the background, and their choosing each other shouldn’t surprise anyone. In front of Joo-young, Jae-jin, as well as Youn Hyun-jae, stood firm to show their interest. Hyun-jae repeated the first line that he had written to Joo-young about her smile. However, Joo-young announced Jae-jin as her final choice and walked out of the inferno, calling him a stray cat.

5) Kim Go-eun and Woo Sung-min
Whom Go-eun liked the most among Sung-min, Jo I-geon, and Shin Hyeon-woo remained a mystery until the final moment. While MCs were rooting for I-geon, Go-eun chose Sung-min to walk out of the inferno with. It left all the MCs stunned, even asking why, as they hadn’t seen much chemistry between them despite hours-long conversations in each episode.
Go-eun justified her choice by saying that I-geon seemed bad at expressing his feelings. Thus, she chose the person who had consistently shown his interest and cared for her. After watching I-geon’s behaviour in the last two episodes, one can somewhat understand where Go-eun was coming from.

Intentionally trying to make her jealous by mentioning Ha-eun repeatedly, and not being up front about the things that Go-eun directly asked, could make one second-guess his sincerity and whether they would be compatible in the long run.
Single Cast Members: Lee Ha-eun, Ham Ye-jin, Youn Hyun-jae, Shin Hyeon-woo, and Jo I-geon
With all the men having already shown interest in the ladies before them, Lee Ha-eun and Ham Ye-jin were the last two female contestants. They weren’t asked to stand in front of the inferno gate, but in their individual interviews, they revealed whom they would have chosen. Ha-eun named Jae-jin, while Ye-jin opted out, saying that she felt no connection with anyone on the show.

Apart from them, Youn Hyun-jae, Shin Hyeon-woo, and Jo I-geon were left in the inferno as they were not chosen by the ladies they showed interest in. Hyun-jae seemed content as Joo-young had already made it clear that she would be choosing Jae-jin; thus, he expected the result. Although I-geon said in his interview that he expected Go-eun not to choose him, his expression suggested he couldn’t wrap his head around it.
Single’s Inferno Season 5 ended with five couples. However, whether they are still together or not is a different story, which will eventually be revealed by the internet sleuths in due time.
Single’s Inferno Season 5 is available to stream on Netflix.
