Delete follows the story of a socialite named Lilly who is approached by a schoolgirl to take her picture in a supermarket. Although the girl looks terrified, as soon as Lilly presses the capture button, a bright flashlight engulfs the person in front and makes them disappear. In simple words, the person is captured inside the camera-like device and vanishes from the real world without any trace. Getting her hands on the device, the story shows the events that took place a week before.

We get to know that Lilly is actually married to a rich guy named Too, whose family run a big farm. However, she is unhappy in her marriage and is having an affair with a popular novelist, Aim. He is also in a relationship with a girl named Orn. Despite keeping a secret affair, Too gets to know about her affair and starts acting a bit suspicious. Coming to the day when Lilly comes to the supermarket, she gets to know that she is pregnant and soon after also gets the device to make people vanish. She explains it all to Aim and he decides to make his girlfriend disappear, for a future together.

As promised, he clicks Orn’s picture & she disappears but before Lilly can use it on Too, he confronts her and even gets to know about her pregnancy. Unsure if she uses the device or not, the news of Lilly’s disappearance takes overall. Now the question remains if Too used the device on Lilly and made her disappear instead or if something really sinister has happened to her. While this is the main plot of the story, to find out what really happened to Lilly and who did it to her, there are sub-plots with secondary characters that give layers to the thriller story and different perspectives on what went down.

One word that describes the series is unpredictable. While watching you start to think that maybe this character could be behind Lilly’s disappearance but as the story develops, new characters take the place and one can never know what will unfold next. One of the most deceptive characters has to be Lilly’s husband, Too. In the start, he is presented as the potential antagonist of the story, then it makes you empathise with him and by the end, you are convinced that he is in fact a good person, until, it is shown that he never was.

The sentence above might be a big spoiler, yet the series is definitely worth watching till the end. To give another spoiler about the show, some viewers might think the end was a bit abrupt due to the open ending. But in this case, it’s kind of obvious what might have happened and the creators don’t have to show it directly. One thing that could have made it much better if there was an origin of the device or some explanation, as to how did it end up in anyone’s hand.

Final Thoughts

Many Thai series on Netflix bring some unique ideas to the platform with a dash of supernatural in them, like Girl From Nowhere. Especially the director of the series is popularly known for his hit horror film Shutter and to have a series with similar camera elements is definitely worth a watch.

Rating: 4/5
