Di4ries Season 2 Part 1 Review
At the end of Di4ries Season 1, we see how Livia gets to know about Pietro and Giulio’s kissing bet and that makes her walk out of the protest. Although the teachers praise her for being mature enough, they send her back to persuade other classmates to abandon the protest. Instead, she decides to take the stand for what she truly believes in and makes a spray paint banner that says, ‘Students first’, joining her classmates, regardless of how hurt she was due to Pietro.
In the new season, we get to meet Pietro who seems to daydreaming about how everything would have been great if their school hadn’t closed down & he would be in a relationship with Livia. But the reality is completely different and in a different school. From 2D, the group of friends from Marina Piccolo are now the class of 3D. Though they are together, the world outside their class is quite hostile as the students of Marina Grande don’t want the new crowd in their school.
On the other hand, Livia is shown to have returned from London with a new appearance and some new friends, who go to Marina Grande as well. She hasn’t forgiven Pietro and is also trying to keep a distance from others. Pietro is hopeful that they will eventually mend their relationship and even the friends try to help them but it drives Livia away more. And things aren’t particularly good for others as well.

The diva of her school, Arianna has become a victim of bullying from Livia’s new friends – Katia and Sara. She even breaks it off with Giulio, who wasn’t shown enough in this season. He seemed to have found his niche – computer science and making games, which keeps him occupied. There is more focus on Isabella this time as she wonders about having a crush or what it feels like to fall in love. And at the right time, a boy named Roby tries to win her heart but things become complicated when she finds herself falling for Pietro.
One of the major themes this time is how the friends drift apart as they grow up and develop different interests. Pietro is mostly under the weather due to his own breakup & his parent’s ongoing divorce. The only stable thing in his life is his friends and wants to keep it that way, by suggesting they apply for the same high school. However, conflicting interests and the desire to venture into new territories seem like a roadblock that might break their tie.
Especially Pietro and Livia’s relationship is like a constant push and pull. Every time she warms up to forgive him, another girl enters the equation and all the chances of being like before go out the window. The ending of Part 1 suggests that they might not be a perfect fit for each other after all. Also, leaving the future of the group in the dark.
Di4ries Part 2 is said to be released sometime next year, making it a long wait to get our answers. The way most of the character’s stories weren’t explored much and with an abrupt ending, the new season does feel incomplete. Other than that, it’s good to see the actors growing along with the progressing story and highlighting some major concerns that teens go through – bullying, finding your interests or even finding likeable peers who would accept you and the awkwardness of first crushes & heartbreaks.
Rating: 3/5
