Doctor Slump Episode 4 Recap
Looking at the sunrise in Sok-cho, Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) reminisces about her childhood and how she found studying more interesting than playing with other kids. Therefore, she grew up with almost no friends. Although she isolated herself by choice, she later regretted not making connections or having someone she could call her friend, from elementary school or high school. Until now, Jeong-woo (Park Hyung-sik) is now her childhood friend, which makes her glad. They visit a nearby restaurant to eat but end up falling asleep instead.
While coming back Jeong-woo gets to know that his hospital has been finally sold, making him feel bittersweet. On the other hand, at Ha-neul’s house, her family thinks she has gone to Sok-cho with Hong-ran. But when Hong-ran turns up at their house alone, her mother starts panicking, thinking that Ha-neul might have taken some extreme step. As she ran outside, Jeong-woo and Ha-neul pulled up in her car and Hong-ran asked if Jeong-woo was the first love she talked about.
Surrounded by questions from her family and friends, Ha-neul isn’t able to clear the misunderstanding on the spot, making Jeong-woo wonder if he really is her first love. However, she clarifies to everyone else that it’s nothing like they are thinking and Jeong-woo is just a friend. She assures them that she has a good sense of character and he isn’t the guilty party in his ongoing case. But her worried wants Ha-neul to find a good man so she doesn’t end up falling for Jeong-woo. She asks Hong-ran to set her on a blind date to divert her mind.

Hong-ran asks the fellow nurses she works with to introduce someone for a blind date. They misunderstand that Hong-ran is looking for a date for herself and another nurse asks Bin Dae-young if she wants to meet her. He was already wondering about his new follower on Neotube but when the same name came up for a blind date, he said yes in a heartbeat. Meanwhile, Ha-neul also feels excited to go on her first blind date and asks Jeong-woo to go shopping with her.
However, in his eyes, every action looks like a confession of remnant feelings for her first love. He thinks that Ha-neul is making excuses to hang out with him but gets disappointed when he learns about her blind date. Unfortunately, the date is a disaster. Dae-young keeps on explaining about his Neotube channel being just a hobby to clueless Ha-neul. And keeps on referring to her as Hong-ran. In the middle, it’s revealed that Dae-young is a divorcee with a teenage daughter, who interrupts the date. While apologising for his daughter’s outburst, he gets to know that she isn’t Hong-ran.
Disappointed Ha-neul encounters Jeong-woo on her way back but he refuses to acknowledge her. He becomes all ears when she complains about her bad date and is glad to know subconsciously. What she didn’t know was that her aunts had come to visit her and were mocking her mother for unemployed kids. To save her face, Ha-neul’s mother lies that she is on a date with a plastic surgeon and they are going to get married, that’s why her daughter has quit her job. Soon they spot Ha-neul with Jeong-woo and mistake him for her boyfriend.
But she doesn’t play along and states the truth, making them mock her family even more. Jeong-woo comes to their aid when the aunts ask him about plastic surgery procedures and he insults them without holding back. This makes them walk out instantly but their words hurt Ha-neul, making her feel impatient to find a job. After drinking her sorrows away with Jeong-woo, she applies for the Chief anesthesiologist position in the faraway city of Hwabon. Fortunately, she got a call back for an interview in the morning and after some consideration, she decided to go for it.
As Ha-neul travels to Hwabon in high spirits, Min Kyung-min visits Jeong-woo for lunch. He shares how the director of the hospital in Hwabon called him asking about Ha-neul, since they worked in the same hospital. Instead of recommending her, he told them about her conflict with the Professor and said that she was difficult to work with. His words enrage Jeong-woo and he rushes out to catch up with Ha-neul before she is turned away from the hospital. As soon as she steps inside the hospital, she is informed on call that the interview is cancelled since they don’t see her as the right fit.
This breaks all her spirits thinking that she lived her life the wrong way. She calls Jeong-woo to share her sorrow but little did she know that Jeong-woo was standing right in front of her, after catching the next train. He consoles her by saying that it’s not her fault at all and that her life decisions are not wrong. Towards the last minute, we see Kyung-min getting out of the shower and looking at the same hidden pen cameras, that were installed in Jeong-woo’s office & home.
