Lies Hidden in My Garden Ending Explained
What Happens to Sang-eun and Joo-ran?
Sang-eun had come to Joo-ran’s house as they had planned to take Jae-ho’s unconscious body to the reservoir and dump it there. But it turns out that Joo-ran had deceived her by making her come to her house and then planning to kill her with Jae-ho. She had previously shown Jae-ho the message sent by Sang-eun about knowing Seung-jae’s involvement in Lee Soo-min’s death. Jae-ho suggests that they should kill her as she will keep on blackmailing them for life. In order to protect the family, she agrees with his plan.
Yet something else was going on in Joo-ran’s mind. She wouldn’t easily become a culprit in someone’s death and when Sang-eun gains consciousness, she hands her a small knife to cut the tape, while Jae-ho was digging a hole in the garden. She then tries to convince Jae-ho to turn himself into the police and not blame Seung-jae for Soo-min’s death. Joo-ran reveals that their son saw him choking her neck to kill, before burying her body. She wants him to accept his crimes so they wouldn’t have to live with the guilt in their life.
While Jae-ho tries to gaslight her again by saying that he did everything to keep the family together, he hears the sound of tape ripping and checks on Sang-eun. As he moves closer towards her, she attacks him and cuts his cheek slightly. It enrages him completely and he starts beating her ruthlessly. She falls near the glass door and rips the curtain so that anyone who could see them can help. To stop everything, Joo-ran shouts and threatens to slit her wrist if Jae-ho didn’t turn himself in & left her and Seung-jae alone.
