My Daemon Review
In the near future, a nuclear blast causes Earth to momentarily overlap with hell and pollute the air with sandstorms from hell. Kento, an elementary schooler who lives in downtown Tokyo, finds a red grain of sand in the forest and raises it as a “daemon,” which he names Anna. The two of them live happily together until people begin to hate and try to kill Anna. Kento wants to protect the daemon, but when his watchful mother has an unfortunate accident, Kento and Anna set out on an adventure to save her.
In the post-apocalyptic world, Daemons are considered sinful creatures who must be destroyed, to save humankind. Only a few individuals are permitted to have daemons are their servants, to kill other vileful daemons. Ordinary citizens are not supposed to own any and if they come across such situation, it must be reported to the ‘Peace Organisation’. The organisation started the entire cleansing process, determining daemons as evil that must not be alive.
However, when Kento starts fostering Anna, everyone gets startled when they see them. Some even take it into their own hands to report against the friendly daemon. What ensues is a chase to capture possibly one of the rarest daemons, in the form of a pet dog with numerous eyes. In order to protect Anna, Kento does everything in his power but when his mother gets severely injured amidst that, his perception changes.
Anna has a special power to engulf objects in its mouth and it rather gets stored in another dimension. Anna can bring it back anytime as well, without changing anything about it. For example, a plate of spaghetti remains as it is even after being engulfed 3 days ago. This gives Kento the idea to preserve his mom’s deteriorating body by making Anna engulf her. In the meantime, he sets out to look for a time daemon that could restore the body back to before all the injuries.

On their journey, they meet various enemies and a few friends that help them reach to their destination. Chased by the violent agents of the Peace Organisation and dangerous daemon, Kento and Anna discover some hidden and powerful powers residing inside them. As they strive to create a world of peaceful co-existence, without fearing for one’s life.
In a way it’s like Tokyo Ghoul meets Pokemon, the daemons are just like pokemon characters with unique powers. Some become masters of them and use it for hunting down other daemons to make a living. While the character of Kento is somewhat like a cheerful and naive version of Kaneki, but doesn’t crossover to the other side. In terms of the storyline and the dialogues, it was a bit amateurish but not in a bad way. Overall, it’s a lighthearted anime with a decent plot and action sequences.
