My Perfect Stranger Episode 15 finally reveals the actual culprit and the reason behind the murders. The show is also known as Run Into You and has a runtime of about 60+ minutes.
The episode picks up right at the moment when Hae-jun (Kim Dong-wook) tries to stop Yeon-woo (Jung Jae-kwang) from driving the time travel car, under the bridge. Before that, glimpses of Yeon-woo committing all the murders are also shown, proving that he is actually the culprit, we have been looking for. Yoon-young (Jin Ki-joo) also comes looking for Hae-jun at home but finds Mi-suk there. She asks if the interview about seeing the culprit’s face was true.
Because if Teacher Yoon had already seen the face then he wouldn’t let him in his own house. Mi-suk had come in the afternoon to tell her about the culprit’s identity but found Yeon-woo there & went back. This shocks Yoon-young and she runs out of the house to find Hae-jun. She collided with Detective Dong-sik in the middle & tells him that she knows where they must be. Meanwhile, Yeon-woo continuously beats Hae-jun and was about to hit him with a brick when Dong-sik shoots his arm.
He is arrested by the police & his house is searched to gather evidence but they couldn’t find anything substantial & even his handwriting did not match. Hae-jun on the other hand was unconscious in the hospital, with Yoon-young by his side. When Chairman Yoon questions Dong-sik that he picked up Yeon-woo from the airport when some murders had already happened in the village. Then how could he be the culprit? Dong-sik tells him that his passport says otherwise & he had already come to Korea when the murders happened.

When Hae-jun gains consciousness, he apologises for all the things that happened because of his father. Yoon-young consoles him by saying that it’s not his fault & even he is a victim. Dong-sik also checks on him & shares that Yeon-woo was smart enough to take care of the evidence beforehand & if only they could show that he has the same handwriting, it would make sure his time in jail. Simultaenously, Chung-ah is seen visiting Chairman Yoon before leaving the village.
She shows him the letters written by Yeon-woo from the US. Chairman Yoon says that it doesn’t seem like his son’s writing and that’s when she explains to him that Yeon-woo wrote with his other hand to her only. It was his way to show that she was special. When the police showed her the matchbox with the note, she instantly recognised the writing and had known it since then. Similarly, a flashback from the future shows how Yeon-woo also wrote a letter to his son, in the same writing. But his grandfather destroyed it in anger.
Thinking about the same, he goes to Chairman Yoon’s house seeking help but founds him burning all the letters that Chung-ah gave him as evidence. He snatches the remaining ones & has a brief meltdown, realising that his grandfather knew about Yeon-woo being the murderer, even when Hae-jun was a kid. That’s why he treated him so coldly. While Chairman cries that it’s all for his future, so that he can live a normal life & not as a kid of a murderer. But he doesn’t realise that Yeon-woo will end up killing his son as well.
Hae-jun gives the letters to Dong-sik as evidence and tells Yoon-young that they should pack up to return soon. While Yoon-young says goodbye to his father Baek Hee-sub by buying him a guitar, Yeon-woo is finally convicted of the crimes and it’s highly unlikely for him to get out of it. Hae-jun also visits his father to get the answers and asks why would he do such a thing. In the flashback, Yeon-woo was seen sneaking around Hae-jun’s house & even found the investigation room. There he got the time travel car manual & figured out all about it.
Instead of asking why he committed the murders, Hae-jun asks him if he loved Chung-ah, as he could have gotten rid of the letter if he wanted, but he didn’t. Yeon-woo chuckles at his question and replies that he might have, as she was different from other women. Not like the ones like her mother, who are always reading, instead of tending to their child & then running away with another man, while carrying a book. This explains his rage against women who read and further shares that he wanted to raise his own kid in a warm & happy home, with a woman who cared enough. Chung-ah fitted his ideal type, an orphan who only wanted to create a family of her own.
Hae-jun gives him a reality check by saying that he could have made a happy family of his own but destroyed it with his own hands. He goes on to share how his own childhood had been, devoid of any love or warmth from a motherly figure but he is glad that his mother was able to go away from a monster like Yeon-woo. His statement makes Yeon-woo wonder if he really is his son or just lying. Because his son would never do that to him. But Hae-jun proves him wrong & gives him a photo of them together and tells him that it’s what he really deserves.
After wrapping up everything & saying goodbye to everyone they knew, Hae-jun and Yoon-young get ready to travel back to their present. With an anxious mind about their future, they drive past under the bridge but the time travel fails and they find themselves in the same place.
My Perfect Stranger Episode 15 Review
This drama has to be one of the best suspense thrillers of the year. The identity of the culprit was really a head-scratching mystery till the end. Even though it was revealed last week that Yeon-woo is the culprit but suspicions were really there, if he really is or the real culprit is again somebody else. However, if the culprit is caught & sent to jail, then the photo with Yeon-woo & Hae-jun should have also disappeared. The future would have changed as well & there’s no way he would still bring up Hae-jun if he will be in jail.
The writing is truly commendable but if the last episode doesn’t tie up the loose ends about Yeon-woo, then it would be a shame. As the ending would feel rushed in that case, without giving all the answers. Like why did Yeon-woo come back from the US than expected and what happened when he went to meet his mother? Did he kill her & that was the start of his deadly obsession or was he always like that? And how did the time travel car come into existence? Hopefully, the final episode will give some explanation.
