My Perfect Stranger Episode 9 reveals a different version of the past that nobody expected. In the last episode, Hee-sub was arrested by his uncle, who asks him again outside if the blood-stained cloth really belongs to him.
He replies yes, but when his uncle asks how can he kill a person in disbelief, Hee-sub seems surprised and denies doing anything like that. Along with the cloth, the other evidence ie the matchbox with the note also points at Hee-sub, because his uncle saw him writing something on paper & putting them in the boxes.
Yet he had no choice but to take him to the police station and Hee-sub was interrogated by the officers to accept the crimes. On the other hand, Yoon-young (Jin Ki-joo) asks Hae-jun (Kim Dong-wook) how can he be so sure that her father is not the culprit.
To which he replies that he had asked why is the bloody cloth there, but Hee-sub replies it was his, despite it being found in his room only. Claiming the obvious means he was trying to conceal something which might be related to his brother. Their suspicion lies on Yu-sub being the culprit but evidence needs to be found against him.
On getting to know about Hee-sub’s arrest, Kyung-ae’s dad was stopped by his family from confronting him at the police station. Especially Soon-ae denies him being the culprit and says that it can’t be possible since he was with her the whole night.
Hee-sub actually visited Soon-ae after rescuing her from the inn and even met Kyung-ae, who was going somewhere to meet her saviour from that day. It points to Yu-sub since he helped them by catching the scammers. After Kyung-ae leaves, Soon-ae invites him to the rooftop so she could give him first aid and they end up waiting the whole night for Kyung-ae to return.

After hearing Soon-ae, her dad tells her not to say anything about being with Hee-sub all night, due to the malicious rumours going around about her late sister. If they get to know that even the younger sister spent the night with a boy – there will be more rumours. However, Soon-ae just wants to save him and due to her protest, she is locked inside her room. Even at Kyung-ae’s crime spot, the lock belonging to Yu-sub was found but Hee-sub still claims it as his. Yoon-young also confirms that the lock was treasured by her uncle who wouldn’t let anyone touch it.
Meanwhile, some people from Seoul’s jurisdiction come to take Hee-sub away and ask him about Yu-sub’s whereabouts. The blood-stained cloth didn’t match any of the victims or him, thus nothing directly proved Hee-sub’s involvement in the crime yet the Seoul officers take him to another place & beat him up ruthlessly to know about Yu-sub. To get to the bottom of everything, Hae-jun visited Yu-sub’s college and dorms but all he gets to know is that he was in Seoul and might have been in trouble due to taking part in student protests against martial law.
Realising that her father might not be trying to save a murderer and there is more to the story, she goes looking for her uncle & finds him hidden in the room’s attic. There a flashback of the past reveals that Hee-sub actually had another elder brother named Jin-sub. He was also protesting against the regime and while trying to save him, his parents were also shot dead. Meanwhile, Hee-sub and Yu-sub were locked inside the house by their parents and their last words were to take care of each other. Thus, the two brothers wear the same key and lock as a reminder of their past.
Yu-sub asks for Yoo-young’s help to surrender himself to the police but Hae-jun takes them to the inn, where Hee-sub was being tortured. Without thinking about anything else, Yu-sub runs inside to save his brother, followed by Hae-jun. After a while, Hee-sub comes out, with a limping leg and Yoon-young couldn’t stop her tears from flowing down.
