Paradise Trailer introduces a dystopian world where age has become a commodity. Directed by Boris Kunz, it is an upcoming German-language action sci-fi thriller film, coming to Netflix next month. It is produced by Simon Amberger, Korbinian Dufter, Rafael Parente and the screenplay is written by Peter Kocyla, Boris Kunz and Simon Amberger.
The cast of the film includes Kostja Ullmann, Iris Berben, Marlene Tanczik, Corinna Kirchhoff, Lisa-Marie Koroll, Alina Levshin, Lorna Ishema, Numan Acar and Lisa Loven Kongsli. While the cinematography is done by Christian Stangassinger.
Netflix’s description of the film reads, “A man sees the dark side of the time-manipulating biotech company he works for when a crushing debt forces his wife to give up 40 years of her own life.” The trailer shows that there’s a company called Aeon, which offers a time donation program. This means one can transfer their age to someone one & that person can become young. They want to create a world where age and death would no longer determine humans.

Even though Max was proud of his company & the work they were doing, he is faced with a conflict when the bank wants to take 40 years off of his wife, Elena’s lifetime, to settle some unexpected insurance claims that they can’t pay. Within a day, Elena becomes 40 years older than him and they are left wondering, how to work it all out. He thinks that they can get the lost years back by getting the operation again, to become young.
However, it turns out that it’s not going to be so simple and there’s something sinister hidden behind the whole time donation program. It questions how one person’s life is more valuable than the other & how they become a commodity that can be used for one’s benefit.

The plot instantly reminds of the 2011 film, In Time, where each person had a certain amount of time to live & it was also used as the currency to buy everything. There also, one could transfer the time from one’s life to another without any operation. The only thing was that the person didn’t become young but remained the same age with a lot more time to live & spend. It is one of the underrated sci-fi films but seeing the trailer, many would want to check that out as well.
Paradise is scheduled to be released on July 27, 2023, on Netflix.
