Single’s Inferno Season 3 has returned with new faces and new rules to stir up some hearts & drama. It was created by Si-jak Company and produced by Kim Su-a. Ji Hyun-suk and Lee Jeong-hwa serve as writers while Super Junior member Kyuhyun, rapper Hanhae, actress Lee Da-hee and entertainer Hong Jin-kyung reprise their roles as MC of the show. Previous season contestant, Dex aka Kim Jin-young also joins the panel as an MC.
In the Korean dating reality show, singles must couple up in order to ditch their home base of Inferno for the more idyllic Paradise, a luxury hotel that lucky pairs take a chopper to for an overnight date. By choosing each other or winning games, all the contestants are given a fair chance to make genuine connections & win a date with their partners.
The new cast of Single’s Inferno Season 3 includes Kim Gyu-ri, Choi Hye-seon, Choi Min-woo, Lee Jin-seok, An Min-young, Lee Gwan-hee, Park Min-gyu, Son Won-ik, Yun Ha-bin, Yun Ha-jeong, and Yu Si-eun.
Single’s Inferno Season 3 Episodes 1-3 Review
The newest season has made some changes as compared to the previous two. The hell seems to have dropped down in terms of comfort and has more wild appeal. The living conditions are more like hell as the contestants will have to sleep in containers, modified enough to have 3 sleeping mattresses at least. The aesthetics of the island have been changed to more rustic and amidst isolated wilderness.
The show started as usual with the introduction of the contestants and the MC’s reaction to their brief self-comments. However, only 6 contestants were introduced, making it one of the smallest groups on the show so far. The three men & women didn’t even have the same privilege of having a big open kitchen & dining area, with various fruits & bread. Instead, they find a camp-like makeshift sitting area with cans of chicken breast and carrots only.
Having unseasoned chicken bit & bitter carrots, they were informed about the trip to paradise, right on the second hour they stepped foot in the inferno. Usually, all the contestants would spend the first night together & then pair up the next day to go to paradise. But this time, they are given a golden chance right away. Based on their first impressions, the individuals who choose each other would be going to paradise.

Surprisingly, two pairs were sent to paradise, leaving one pair in the Inferno. The matched-up couple were flown out of the Island on a chopper and were given outlandish cars to drive to the luxury hotels. For the most part, it seemed like the show would carry on with these 6 contestants & new entrants might come later. Yet another twist waited for the couples in the morning, when they were separated from each other.
Instead, they met up with a new face, telling them about a second inferno. That’s when it’s revealed that there are actually two infernos. 6 contestants are living on one island & another group of 5 contestants were put up on the adjacent island. Each group had the same experience – entering into inferno & going to paradise with their chosen partner. However, the next morning the couples in paradise were separated and were paired with the contestant of the second inferno.
This way, half of the contestants were interchanged between the two groups. It stirred things up on the show and the contestants who thought they might not find their person in such a small pool – started looking forward to making new connections. Especially on the second island with 3 men and 2 women (Park Min-gyu, Son Won-ik, Yun Ha-bin, Yun Ha-jeong, and Yu Si-eun), the second day brought new faces and made them a group of 6 due to interchange.
Single’s Inferno Season 3 Final Thoughts
Having two popular seasons that made almost all the casts into internet stars, it’s quite evident that the new contestants have come keeping that in mind. It feels like they are doing more for the camera or trying to catch people’s attention by deliberate actions, instead of being genuine. Another thing is the age gap between the male & female casts. Almost all male cast are in their mid/late 30s while females are in their mid-20s. It would have been better if the gap wasn’t that wide, making it easier to get along and treat each other like friends.
Age gap might also become a big reason for contestants to not couple up (despite being quite compatible) or pretend for the show and go separate ways, afterwards. It might be too soon but even in three episodes, one can tell who would be stealing all the limelight and which contestants will become secondary characters on the show. Contestants like Yun Ha-jeong, Lee Gwan-hee, Park Min-gyu and Kim Gyu-ri might catch many eyes with their flirtatious personalities and mind games.
Like any other dating show, the contestants are as shallow as usual but something’s about Korean shows that take it to the next level. Their obsession with beauty & aesthetics is common knowledge but seeing everyday people categorising others into dinosaur look or puppy dog look – is a very foreign culture. Even a question about their ideal type will get answers like ‘someone with a sharp nose or long legs’ or a particular physical feature nobody would have focused on in daily life. Other than that, nobody can deny the slow-building drama of these Korean shows that makes them engrossing.
Single’s Inferno Season 3 is available to watch on Netflix. New Episodes will be released on December 19, 2023.
