Siren Survive the Island Finale Review: Produced by Studio Modak for Netflix, the show released its final episodes on June 6, 2023. Created by Lee Eun-kyung and produced by Ko Min-gu, it is set on a remote island where 24 female contestants, versed in the highest levels of both combat and strategy, fiercely compete in six teams divided by profession.
Living on the Island of fire for 7 days, the team were subjected to two challenges – an arena match & base battle. In the Arena match, the teams competed against each other to win a special benefit that could help them in the Base battle. Through the battle, the teams had to acquire the opposite team’s flag to eliminate them from the game.
Out of a total of 6 teams – Police officers, Firefighters, Bodyguards, Soldiers, Athletes and Stunt actors. Only Firefighters, Soldiers, Athletes and Bodyguards were left and had to compete in the arena match. The task was to dig up a well in front of them & the team to turn on the water valve first would win the benefit of deciding the time of the base battle. However, each well had some special coins that could help them in stalling other teams while digging.
Through arm wrestling, the winner was decided and Kim Seong-yeon of the Athlete’s team won. They then assigned wells accordingly and everyone got to digging. Whichever team was able to find the sabotage coins first, they were using them on other teams. The coins allowed them to stop another team from using any tool to dig or fill their well with more sand. Only two wells had a special coin of swapping their well mid-match if they wanted to. Both the Athlete’s team and Soldier’s teams got the coin but they decided to stick to their own.
Eventually, the Firefighters team was the first one to turn on the well & they won the benefit of an ice box, along with the decision to start the battle at any time. This made other teams on their toes and await the battle to start anytime. The soldiers were the ones who snooped around and gathered intel from everywhere. They heard the firefighters talk about starting the battle at 8 and how they had made an alliance with the Athletes.

While the Soldier’s team made an alliance with the Guard’s team and told them that the match would start at 8 in the morning. However, the battle didn’t start the whole day and as they were getting tired of waiting, the siren went off at 8:05 at night. As planned, Firefighters and Athletes attacked the Soldier’s base and even eliminated two of their members. However, the match was paused due to heavy rain and bad weather, and also because some people broke the rules.
From Soldier’s team, Kang Eun-mi was penalised for throwing the fire extinguisher on other people, as it could have seriously injured them. And Lee Hyun-seo was penalised for dissenting against the master’s ruling when her flag was picked out, yet she refused to go out of the game. The base battle started again the next day, but the two members had to sit out of it. It gave an advantage to other teams as Firefighters were able to acquire their flag easily.
As it was revealed that the eliminated teams were put on another island for a consolation match. And with the Soldier team’s arrival, the match was finally held. They were asked to roll a boulder across the flat mud to the Arena match area. Among the three teams – Soldiers, Stunts, and Police – the Soldiers team rolled their way back to the game by turning up first.
With the teams back to being four again, the next base battle rules include the elimination of two teams in total. The Soldiers were given another base on the island, which was a tent near the square house. Taking the alliance forward, Firefighters and Athletes were able to acquire the other two team flags each. Eliminating the soldiers and the guards at once. Leading to the final base battle between the remaining teams.

The Firefighter team definitely shined the most among all the teams but in the final battle, they lost to Athlete’s team. They had exposed almost all of their tactics and strength in the alliance attacks which gave the other team a better understanding of them. Also, the new location worked to their advantage.
Therefore, the Athlete team consisting of Leader Kim Hee-jeong, Kim Seong-yeon, Kim Min-sun and Kim Eun-byul were the final winner of the game show. They were a team that many didn’t think would last that long but they were able to acquire all the bases at last. The soldier’s team were a strong contender but they underestimated others and the overconfidence got to them.
