Which Couple Got Engaged & Which Didn’t?

Yoly and Mal

In the previous episode, Mal had got down on one knee to propose to Yoly. The latest episode picks up from that and Yoly also accepts the proposal. Despite that, she seemed conflicted and had to talk to Xander later on. However, Mal assured her that she would try to become the version of herself that Yoly wanted and would show up for her, no matter what.

Mildred and Tiff

Before arriving at the venue of their meetup, Mildred was determined if Tiff didn’t propose to her, then she would be ready to walk out. Fortunately, Tiff expressed that despite their differences & fights, she wanted to get married to her & they got engaged.

Sam and Aussie

Many people were unsure of how their relationship would turn out & if Aussie would walk out again from the whole experience. But Aussie came through and presented Sam with a heart-shaped labradorite protection gemstone as a way to express that she chose her as a life partner. Before anyone goes, what?; hold on, as Aussie also got down on one knee to propose to Sam, and she accepted!

Vanessa and Xander

This couple was definitely the highlight of the show and made many curious about their final decision. As predicted and hoped by many that Xander definitely deserves someone better, they saw the same through the experience. They mutually decided to break up, although Vanessa had hoped to get proposed to but that didn’t happen. Xander wanted to build a future with Yoly and after the breakup, they moved to have a conversation with her.

Yoly had already accepted Mal’s proposal yet was quite conflicted about it, till the end. However, she decided to stick with her decision & bid goodbye to Xander.

Lexi and Rae

Like Yoly, Rae was also quite unsure about what she really wanted. But in the final moment, she decided to propose to Lexi and coincidentally, Lexi also brought a ring for her. The two were happily engaged to each other.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love Reunion

If you thought that it was all and mostly everyone got a happy ending, then you are very wrong. The last episode of the show was a reunion after almost one year of their final decisions & a lot of things seemed to have changed for the above couples. Spoiler Alert but the majority of the couples have broken up.

Xander and Vanessa were the only ones who walked out single from the show & their equation remained the same. They did try to make things work afterwards but it didn’t turn out the way they hoped for & decided to be just friends. On the other hand, Mal & Yoly also broke up because Mal wasn’t able to trust Yoly anymore. Soon after the show’s ending, they broke their engagement & went their separate ways.

Vanessa butted in & told that Yoly & Xander also tried to form a connection afterwards. But they didn’t find each other compatible enough to build a future together. Meanwhile, Mildred and Tiff’s relationship was as tumultuous as ever and they also revealed to have broke up. Apparently, they had moved in together but during one fight, Mildred threw a photo frame, dog gate and whatnot at Tiff & the police were called on her. Since the arrest, they called it off & stayed away from each other. Their differences came out again on the show & Tiff left the reunion midway.

During the show reunion, only Lexi & Rae along with Sam & Aussie were happily engaged. But in the end, it was revealed that even Lexi & Rae had broken up after the reunion filming & the marriage was called off.

The Ultimatum Queer Love Finale Review

Episode 9 was quite surprising when almost all the couples got engaged to their original partners. It could be because they didn’t want to lose the person they had been with for so many years. However, once they got back to their daily routine things didn’t change much or the feelings changed in regards to each other. Sam and Aussie had the highest chances of breaking up, due to Aussie’s avoidant personality. Surprisingly, Aussie realised the issues & is working on them.

Yoly’s impression definitely changed from being a family-minded person to a bit calculative, who wanted to get the best option available to her without hurting anyone. If anything, Mal realised her own needs & what she really wanted from a relationship.

It’s not a surprise that most of the couples broke up but compared to other versions of the same dating format, Queer Love was much more mature – the couples have been together for a significant amount of time & had quite insightful conversations that made viewers reflect on their own dating styles.
